The following data reflects registered generators on CleanCounts Electricity Registry. This data is provided to prevent double registration of generators. Explore it here or download the underlying data.

Explore generator attributes like location down to the county, fuel type, ownership, size, program eligibility, and both the year the facility began operating and the year it entered the registry.

Generator filters

Every figure, chart, table, and download below reflects these filters. Click any bar in any chart to filter by it. Where a chart cannot name every category at once it groups the rest as All others; click on it to show all categories, and the row beneath closes it again. Every chart measures either capacity or a count of generators; the two year charts can show each of those per year or as a running total. Where a chart has something to explain, an i beside its title carries the note.

Active generators

Every generator currently active in the registry, with nothing about them withheld. Search across every column at once, or filter them one at a time. Each dropdown lists only the values still present under the other filters, so a combination that would return nothing is never offered. Numeric columns accept ranges, so >10 and 2020-2024 both work.

Active generators

Every active REC-eligible generator: ID, facility name, generator name, fuel category, nameplate capacity, ownership, county, state or province, country, commissioning year, first year in the registry, generator type, distributed generation group, and program eligibility.

What to know about this data

Generators

Some generators report more than one fuel or owner. The active generator table lists every value a generator reports, and its column filters offer them one at a time, so filtering on Solar also returns generators that are part solar. The charts group these as Multiple fuels and Multiple owner types.
Program eligibility is counted more than once. A generator eligible for several programs is counted under each, so that chart totals more than the register does.
Distributed generation is listed one unit at a time. Every row here is one of two generator types. A Regular generator is a single registered facility. A Distributed generation unit is one member of a Distributed Generation Group, the registration CleanCounts provides for a fleet of small installations, usually rooftop or community solar, that are administered together and share one parent registry identifier instead of holding a registration each. Each of those 6,709 units is listed here as its own generator, identified by its own unit ID, with the Group column naming the parent it belongs to. Searching or filtering on a parent ID returns every unit under it. They account for 6,709 of the 12,351 generators on this page and 2,005 MW of the capacity.
A generator has two dates, and they are not the same. Year online is when the facility began operating; first year in registry is when it became active in this registry.
